Burbo Offshore Wind Farm Environmental Monitoring

end

Burbo offshore wind farm is the second such development in Liverpool Bay and a project which CMACS has had involvement in for a number of years, going back to the original EIA.  We are now responsible for a large-scale, multi-year monitoring programme.

CMACS was responsible for developing a comprehensive programme of environmental monitoring covering the pre, during and post-construction periods.  We are now undertaking and commissioning a range of surveys covering fish, benthic ecology, ornithology, suspended sediments and scour.  In addition, we play a key role in supporting the developer in dealings with environmental regulators including Natural England and Defra to ensure that statutory obligations are met.

In addition to Burbo, CMACS is also involved in environmental monitoring at Rhyl Flats offshore wind farm and has long been associated with equivalent monitoring work at North Hoyle.  Together with our environmental assessment work at Gwynt-y-Môr this has provided us with unrivalled knowledge of the Liverpool Bay area.
